Nature’s Peace Garden is dedicated to naturally growing produce using sustainable methods. Our goal is to offer a variety of unusual heirloom produce and to educate the public on the best way to store and prepare our offerings.
I’m Wendy Lowry and I grow Nature’s Peace Garden with my husband Bernie. We are excited to be growing in South Carolina and enjoy meeting all the wonderful people here. We moved to Travelers Rest from the Baltimore area in 2015 when Bernie retired from the police department, and Nature’s Peace Garden was born. Until now, gardening has been a hobby as my first career was as a registered nurse and my second career was in healthcare IT. Wanting to promote sustainable agriculture and eat healthier, it seemed that growing heirloom produce without chemicals would provide great food for the family and local customers. We started prepping the new garden area in the fall and as soon as the ground was ready in the spring of 2016 we started planting.
We are currently selling at the Travelers Rest Farmers Market, through Adam’s Mobile Market, and to the Hungry Drover restaurant. We hope to expand to more markets and to eventually start a CSA. Our granddaughter Kenzi helps at the market each Saturday and knows the produce well. Come stop by our tent on Saturdays to say hi and sample some of the wonderful fresh produce we have to offer.
